ALL MUST READ: GREAT LESSONS FROM THE POOR

LESSONS FROM THE POOR:
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country, with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son: ‘How was the trip?’
‘It was great, Dad.’
‘Did you see how poor people live?’ the father asked.
‘Oh yeah,’ said the son.
‘So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?’ asked the father.
His son answered:
‘I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.’
The boy’s father was left speechless.
Then his son added: ‘Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor we are.’

Blind with no eyes, scientist amazed boy can still see (VIDEO)

Ben Underwood is the only self taught blind person in the world who saw objects by echolocation without any type of aid. Ben is blind! Ben lost his sight at the age of three, and after numerous surgeries, chemo, and radiation treatments failed, Ben's mother Aquanetta Gordon was faced with a decision no mother would want to make.

Because there were still traces of the cancer left, and if doctors didn't remove his eyes he might not have lived. The decision was made, and Ben's eyes were removed. Ben's mother never let him believe from the time he came out of surgery, to this present day he couldn't see.

At the age of seven, Ben began to click. He learned to bounce his clicks off objects around him to give him a clearer image of the object. Ben has learned to skate, ride a bike, plays basketball, and even video games.

Dr. James Reuben, Ben's eye doctor was astounded the first time he met Ben. Dr. Reuben was so impressed with Ben's abilities he contacted the local press. Ben's

sonar capability is similar to that of a submarine. Sonar operators are taught what Ben has taught himself.

Scientist at the University of Santa Barbara amazed with Ben's abilities invited him to the campus to see if they can find out how Ben navigates with a faint signal.

Ben's mother realized how exceptional her child was when she sent him to a school for the blind.

When Ben's mother relocated to give 14 year old Ben a better life, he had to relearn the dimensions of his new home, and the route to school along with the route to his karate class. Ben refuses to use a cane or guide dog.

Daniel Kish who has lost his sight like Ben at a young age to cancer, uses echolocation along with a cane, and teaches the blind how to access the world. Considered an expert Ben's mother sought out his help in order to help Ben to further his independence in the world.

Ben, like any other teenage boy craves his independence. Ben's first experience with blind people left a bad taste in his mouth, which took some time for him to believe that the blind people in Daniel Kish's group were different, and that it was even possible for him to lean something from another blind person who uses a cane.

Ben's cancer was in check until 2007, when he developed a tumor in his sinus cavity. Intensive treatment failed to knock down the disease. Aquanetta Gordon knew that her remarkable son's life on Earth soon would be over. As his life slipped away she got help from hospice nurses, family members and friends.

Ben built an enduring legacy after his story became public in The Bee in May 2006. He became a worldwide celebrity, an Internet sensation and an inspirational speaker.

A boy who touched the world of science, who will never be forgotten

The Boy Who Sees Without Eyes- VIDEO

The boy who could see without eyes After being diagnosed with retinal cancer Ben Underwood lost both his eyes at the age of 3. He taught himself to perceive and locate objects by making clicking sounds with his tongue and using the echoes as they bounced off his environment to create a visual image in his mind. He began to use this technique at age 3 and further improved it so that even the surface of the objects did not matter whether it is metal, wood or another human being. Ben was able to perceive the distance to objects in his environment by how loud and faint the echo was. Due to wearing two prostheses his disability was not visible at first glance. Ben never used a guide dog or a white cane in his life. After his unique skill made the news he was featured in several magazines and TV shows. The most important person who enabled him to develop his talent was his mother who always told him "Your name is Benjamin Underwood and you can do anything". Ben had a special talent to read other people and immediately know if he was accepted or rejected by another person. Ben's cancer returned in 2007 and this time treatment was not able to save his life. Ben died one week before his 17th birthday.

After a 15-year-long excavation defined as one of the the most complex ever conducted in Israel, archaeologists have finished uncovering a massive Canaanite fortress dating back to the time of Kings David and Solomon. The 3,800-year-old “Spring Citadel” was excavated in the City of David National Park by dozens of researchers led by Professor Ronny Reich of the University of Haifa and Eli Shukrun of the Israel Antiquities Authority. ”The Spring Citadel was built in order to save and protect the water of the city from enemies coming to conquer it, as well as to protect the people going down to the spring to get water and bring it back up to the city,” said Director of Development in the City of David, Oriya Dasberg

“The Spring Citadel was built in order to save and protect the water of the city from enemies coming to conquer it, as well as to protect the people going down to the spring to get water and bring it back up to the city,” said the director of development in the City of David, Oriya Dasberg.

The citadel is believed to have protected the Gihon spring, described in the Book of Kings as the location of King Solomon’s anointing.

The Spring Citadel is the largest Canaanite fortress yet discovered in Israel, and is believed to be the largest known fortress predating the reign of King Herod, according to the Antiquities Authority.

The fully excavated site has reopened to the public and will offer fuller access to visitors who wish to explore a piece of biblical history.

Love your mom, this is sad and may make you cry - Must watch

I think the sacrifices made were acts of love. Children don't sometimes understand what a parent or grandparent or anyone that does good for them and care about them in this world really mean to them. Some may be thankful, but, on the whole, most don't realize until they have gone out into the working world or maybe just have a family of their own. Let us wake up before it's too late to let them know how thankful we are for them being there. A lot of sleepless nights and worried days were spent for them, asking God to keep them safe and secure. If they only knew or know how they are always in our hearts and on our minds.

AWESOME LOVE ! Mother Dies to Save the Life of Her Unborn Baby

A Greater Love-Mother Dies to Save the Life of Her Unborn Baby
A mum made the ultimate sacrifice — giving up her own life so her baby girl could live.
Doctors told cancer patient Elizabeth Joice that she would never get pregnant, so when she did last year, it was something of a miracle.
But joy quickly turned to heartbreak for Elizabeth and her husband Max when doctors presented her with an impossible challenge: terminate the pregnancy and begin treatment — or put her life in danger.
It didn’t take Elizabeth long to reach her decision.
Having a kid was one of the most important things in the world to her,” Max told The New York Post. “She said, ‘If we terminate the pregnancy and it turns out I can’t have a baby [later], I’ll be devastated. She knew this might be her only chance.”
Elizabeth and Max were together for two years in September 2010, when an MRI showed that what doctors thought was a herniated disc was actually a tumour.
“The day the doctors called us with the results is also the day I proposed to her,” Max said. “She said, ‘If it’s terminal, I’m not even going to fight. Let’s travel the world until I keel over.’ ”
Max made a beeline for the kitchen and returned with an engagement ring made of tin foil.
“I said, ‘You don’t have the option not to fight’ and proposed to her then,” Max said. “We got married a month later.”
Elizabeth, 36, described as fiercely independent and optimistic, endured four rounds of chemotherapy, a surgery and even more chemo to make sure the tumour was eradicated.
She was declared cancer-free for three years but still longed to have a baby, even though doctors told her it was impossible.
Undeterred, the couple moved from New York’s Upper East Side to Roosevelt Island in June 2013 to prepare to raise a family. Within a few days, Liz discovered she was pregnant. “I totally blew a gasket,” Max said. “They said there was no chance this was happening — and here it was happening.”
But only a month later, they received the devastating news: the tumour was back.
Doctors removed the mass, but because she was pregnant, Elizabeth couldn’t undergo full-body MRI scans and her oncologist couldn’t see whether the cancer was growing.
The baby was due March 4, but the doctors could no longer wait. In January, a surgeon performed a C-section and beautiful baby Lily was born.
Elizabeth’s health quickly declined as her cancer spread. Tumours invaded her right lung, heart and abdomen “We said our goodbyes,” Max said. “It was like something out of a movie. We sat there and cried. We tried to tell stories, talk about all the great things.”
“Liz came home five days after Lily was born,” Max said. “That one night at home was all we had.”
Elizabeth died on March 9 in her hospital bed with Max by her side.
“Liz had this way about her,” Max said. “She had this positive energy that made you want to be the best version of yourself. She was intolerant of self-pity.”

#‎BabyOsinya‬ has been operated on successfully, the bullet has been removed-YOUR PRAYER WORKS..YOUR AMEN WORKED!-Thank you

Doctors have successfully removed the bullet lodged in baby Satrin Osinya's skull.

The infant who was injured in a gun attack on a Likoni church is recovering from the surgery which was performed Tuesday morning. Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) Public Relations Officer Simon Ithae confirmed the good news to The Standard this afternoon. Details on the boy's condition are still scanty. Doctors believe the bullet that was removed from Baby Osinya’s head also killed his mother when she was shot in the attack on Joy Repentance and Holiness Church in Likoni, Mombasa County on Sunday, March 23. After the attack, Baby Osinya was taken to the Coast Provincial General Hospital by his 13-year-old brother Moses Gift. At the hospital, an x-ray showed that the bullet was embedded in the infant’s head. The next evening, Baby Osinya was transferred to Mombasa Hospital as doctors deliberated on the next course of action.

That Tuesday, he was flown to Nairobi for specialist treatment at the KNH, with both the national and Mombasa county governments taking care of costs. He was in the company of his father Benson Osinya.

Meanwhile, following a story by The Standard about the boy’s rescue from the church by his brother, there was an outpouring of sympathy from Kenyans who have been following his progress. News of the infant’s successful surgery first broke on social media on Tuesday and was received with mixed reactions for a few hours as many perceived it to be a sick April Fools’ Day prank. Before the briefing by KNH officials, efforts by the Standard Digital team to confirm the news from the boy’s father were not fruitful as Mr Osinya would only confirm that he was with the boy and that he was well.
