who claims her daughter’s life was destroyed after she
joined Prophet Owour’s church.

My daughter joined Moi University in 2010 and was a
wonderful out going ambitious girl until the day she
joined this strange church. All of a sudden my daughter
changed for the worst. She was a smart girl who knew
how to dress very decently and being in the hospitality
industry, it demands that her dressing should be above
board. In 2011 my daughter came for her attachment
which she did at Palacina Hotel and that was a
wonderful attachment. The hotel was so impressed with
her performance. She was elegant and very outgoing.

Infact at the end of the attachment she was given two
complimentary slips for lunch to the parents. According
to her, the hotel said if she had finished her university
training they could have taken her in as an employee in
the hotel.

In that same year after her attachment, she went back
to college around August and that is the time things
turned for the worst. My daughter joined this Prophet
church and changed like a chameleon. I could not
believe this is my daughter. She no longer communicated
with her family. Her sister eventually joined her in
Eldoret but they could not stay together. She kept
pestering her sister to join the church but the sister
refused.

Then she started calling her names and saying she is a
sinner and therefore she could not even eat a sinner’s
food. Their relationship became so bad until I eventually
sought alternative accommodation for the sister.

In 2011 December, she came back home for Christmas
and I could not believe this was my daughter. She had
changed totally. Her dress code had turned into some
long baggy dresses. She stopped making her hair, and
even putting on earrings and such like things. She
became so withdrawn and I realized she had no friends.

She could cook and sometimes not eat. I hear the
prophet tells them to eat very little. So I realized when
she came she had reduced a lot of weight. I thought this
was just typical of college life and maybe she is studying
a lot.

After a year from the other attachment, she went to her
next attachment at BCD travel. This is the place I
discovered that there is a problem. She couldn’t cope up
with her new workplace because of her religious beliefs.

She is now jobless and still following Prophet Owour’s
cult. No man even wants to get close to her because she
looks like a 50 year old lady despite her young age.

4. I learned to eat until I was not hungry any more rather that when I was stuffed.

Food was limited, but balanced. We each got our share because my mother cut it up equally among us. (I never knew you could scoop ice cream out of the carton until I grew up, because my mother always cut a half gallon of ice cream into 10 equal pieces and that 10th piece was cut into 10 more pieces. (My father got the extra piece.)

I have never had a problem with weight, and this is because of the good eating habits and appreciation for the food we had.

5. I learned that it was the people that made a home, not the size of a house. 

We may not have had much, but we had each other. We had each other to talk to, play with, and laugh with. (Sometimes to fight with.)

6. I learned to work together. 

When you live in a small space you have to work as a team. You learn good working skills and what hard work is.

We earned money by working in the fields for the farmers, helping irrigate when it came to watering the crops, and keeping the four rooms of our house picked up, so there was room to walk.

As I look back on my childhood and the values it fostered, I realize I was a very lucky child. Yes, things are much better and easier now, but I know what to appreciate and what’s important to be happy.

It’s the people you share your life with—the memories you build and laughter you share.

Things are not what make you happy. It’s living in the moment and living everyday with love in your heart.

I only buy what I need, which controls the clutter. I have food, shelter, and water, air to breathe, and people to love that love me.

I appreciate what I already have to add comfort to my life. I take good care of my furniture, appliances, and the little things that make life more comfortable and easier.

We have the choice to change our life if we want. With hard work and a dream anything is possible. Obstacles can always be overcome. We learn from them and keep moving forward.

True happiness does not come with a price tag. Happiness is something we choose with our own attitude and gratitude.

I look at people today and all the material things they acquire, thinking they are going to find happiness, but happiness cannot be bought.

It’s in our attitude. The love in our heart. The people we know and love. The memories life brings.

When death is knocking at our door, what will be important is the way we loved and the memories we leave for the people left behind. They’re not going to remember the house you lived in or the beautiful things you may have had.

People will remember the laughter they shared with you, the long talks, lessons they may have learned from you, and most important, the love that was shared.

In the end it is who we were, how we touched other’s lives, and the love we gave and received that is going to count and be remembered.

Reasons why P-Square brothers are parting ways

As Africa woke up to the sad news that the dynamic duo P-Square are breaking up the question on everyone’s mind is why they wanted to call it quits. But this was not a big deal since because which sibling doesn’t disagree sometimes, right?

But now their older brother, Jude Okoye, who is also their manager, just tweeted that after ten years he’s done and we got information as to why this is. According to a sources Peter has refused to do anything P-Square for weeks now. Forget that he was at his brother’s wedding, things are not good between them right now. Peter wants out. He said Paul and Jude are sidelining him.

What’s cooking in Kenya? Ugali, of course!

Rare delicacies .. ama?



The finished product: lunch of ugali and tiny, dried omena fish.

I recently got my first Kenyan cooking lesson. A good friend I made in the small town of Sega took me to his home and let me help make a simple lunch of ugali (a thick, sticky mass of carbohydrates, and the foundation of the Kenyan diet) and tiny fish called omena, which are pulled from nearby Lake Victoria, then dried and eaten whole.


Tasty and salty. You don’t ever notice the eyes, I promise!

So, how did we do it? Easy! First, my friend George fired up his “jika” a small, charcoal burner and began heating a pot of water for our ugali. After the water began to boil, he added a little corn flour. Then, we began to stir.

As the gooey ugali began to thicken, George added more flour to make it the right, play-dough-esque consistency. His experienced hands put in the exact amount, but I’m sure I would need to try several times to get the right ratio.


Here I am, stirring ugali as it thickens over the charcoal heat.

George plopped the mass of ugali on a plate and covered it to keep it hot while we started the fish. Some oil poured in the bottom of a pot, then the fish, then some salt, then a little onion and finally a small tomato all sizzled over the charcoal. I stirred so it wouldn’t burn, and eventually the fish turned slightly golden and crispy.


Stirring the thick mixture of corn flour and water takes some muscle.



Finally, we enjoyed the fruits of our labour. Showing proper Kenyan manners, George brought a basin and a pitcher of water so I could wash my hands as he poured it for me. Now with clean hands, we squeezed the hot, doughy ugali into edible balls in our palms, then scooped up a few fish for each bite.

Ugali may not have a lot of taste, but believe me: it fills you up! George and I were very full after a meal that probably cost only a few dozen cents in total. Maybe, if you ask me nicely, I’ll even make it for you once I’m back in Canada.


Bonus picture: another meal in Sega. This time, nyoyo (corn and beans) and uji (millet porridge) that I bought at a small stall by the side of the road.

‘Most wanted’ man shot dead in raid-See his Facebook Name

Inspector General David Kimaiyo said the man was also being sought in connection with other offences including rape.



Police have killed a man they accused of shooting an MP and a Kenya Power employee.


In an operation conducted at 6am on Saturday morning, a team of Flying Squad officers surrounded Mr Peter Wanjohi’s house in Kiserian.


He was shot dead and a Star pistol loaded with five rounds of ammunition was found.


Police said Mr Wanjohi was part of a gang that robbed Samburu MP Raphael Letimalo and shot him in the leg at the legislators home at River Bank estate in Rongai last month.


Athlete attacked


They robbed him of Sh 30,000 and two mobile phones.


The husband of Olympic medalist Vivian Cheruiyot was also attacked.


Mr Moses Kiplagat lost Sh350,200 and a Toyota Prado when he was attacked by three gun men as he was heading to his home in Ngong two weeks ago.


Inspector General David Kimaiyo further said the man was among gangsters who robbed Mr Abuya Abuya of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision, and “murdered a Kenya Power employee.”


Mr Kimaiyo also said Mr Wanjohi was also being sought in connection with other offences including rape.


Separately, gangsters raided a bar in Nairobi and injured two patrons.


One of the assailants was cornered and lynched by a mob as the gangsters fled the scene after the robbery.


During the 9pm Saturday incident, the gang ordered patrons to lie on the floor.


One of them asked the waiters to surrender cash as they frisked the patrons.


But a confrontation ensued between the gang and patrons and the robbers shot two customers.


Elsewhere, a man was robbed in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa estate as he drove into his compound on the same night.


Gangsters confronted him as he waited for the watchman to open the gate.

University Girl with HIV infects 300 Men For Revenge (See her Facebook Name)

A Kenyan woman (pictured) who claims a man raped and infected her with HIV at a party recently admitted to sleeping with more than 300 men in revenge, the Kenyan Daily Post reports.


The woman, who remains anonymous, shared her story through her Facebook page “Kenyan Scandals.”


“I’m 19 and a 2nd year here at Kabarak Uni,” she said. “I joined this college a virgin; though I’ve had boyfriends before, my parents are strict so having s3x was never on my mind.”


But that apparently changed late last year during a visit to a club.


“Sep 22nd 2013 is a day I’ll never forget. We went clubbing in town and got drunk with some senior students then went back [to] hostels for party round 2,” she continued. However, she woke up n@ked the next day to a man named Javan.


Upon asking if they’d used a c0ndom for intercourse, Javan said yes. However, the woman soon noticed sp3rm near her v@ginal area while taking a bath.


I wanted to commit suicide, she shared. I feared getting pregnant [and] HIV, took contras [and] hoped I was HIV-free. Unfortunately, that was not the case: In November I tested HIV [positive]. I felt like cutting off my neck.


She confronted Javan who claimed he was HIV-negative.


I was so depressed and took alcohol to die, I even bought poison, the pain was just unbearable; how was I [going to] face the world? I let my parents down, I gave up on the world and just wanted to end my life. My future had been ruined, somehow someone had to pay.


She reportedly began exacting revenge by sleeping with as many men as possible. To date, she claims, she has slept with 324 men.


Not a day passes without me having s3x, mostly 4 people per day,” she stated. “Nothing will stop me from accomplishing my mission by continuing to sleep around, you never know but maybe you have slept with me or your husband, boyfriend, brother, father or any has slept with me.


The woman’s eventual plan is to infect 2,000 men with the virus before year’s end, according to XNaija.


One commenter on the Kenyan Daily Post says he has slept with the woman:
