Student Punished for Asking Miss America to Prom

via nbc news

YORK, Pa. — A Pennsylvania high school student is in hot water for asking Miss America to prom during a question and answer session at school.

Eighteen-year-old Patrick Farves said he received three days of in-school suspension Thursday because he asked Nina Davuluri to prom.

The senior at Central York High School stood up and popped the prom question, then walked to the stage with a plastic flower. Davuluri just laughed and the students cheered.

School officials heard about Farves' plan in advance and warned him not to do it. He has apologized for disrupting the event.

The school said students are disciplined for breaking rules and this incident was no different.

Davuluri was at the school to talk with students about diversity and the importance of science, technology, engineering and math studies.

SHOCKING AS WOMEN NOW RAPING MEN IN ZIMBABWE

Zimbabwe is seeing a number of rape cases, only this time around, men are the victims.
‘Al Bayan’ reported a latest case wherein a man accused three women of drugging, robbing and raping him in the southern city of Bulawayo.
Police say this is the fifth sexual attack against males in less than a year.
The 26-year-old man was allegedly offered a lift by the three women. No sooner did he get in than they sedated him using a some chemical on a cloth and covering his mouth. When he woke up, he allegedly found himself naked and the women took turns raping him.
They made away with about €200 and his cell phone, a police spokesperson was quoted as saying.
Last February, four women forced a 25-year-old man to ‘entertain’ them at gun point.
In a separate incident, a 30-year-old was also drugged and sexually assaulted by three women. Two of the women had guns.
In September, a 44-year-old man was forced to ‘entertain’ two women while a man stood guard.
There is currently no law in Zimbabwe against rape by a woman

20 Nations Issue Travel Warnings Against Nigeria

20 Nations Issue Travel Warnings Against Nigeria

According to a report on Theguardianmobile.com, Nigeria’s failing security situation is causing a global sense of frustration and there is fear of possible isolation, judging from western nations’ responses to the increasing wave of terror attacks in the country.

Following significant negative media attention on an international scale, about 20 countries have advised their citizens to stay away from Nigeria, mostly due to last week’s terror attacks. And they include:

the US, Canada, Australia, have already issued several warnings to its citizens about Nigeria, United Kingdom, several other western nations like France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.

Even at the United Nations, where Nigeria is currently holding the gavel as this month’s President of the Security Council, there is a sense of frustration, as four major official statements criticised the state of insecurity in Nigeria.

Specifically, the Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has had to issue two statements of the four critical statements on the Nigeria terror attacks within three days. His first statement was on Monday the 14th after the Nyanya Bus station bombing, and then on Wednesday after the kidnapping of over 100 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State.

Then, from the Security Council, where Prof Joy Ogwu has been presiding as rotating president for April, came the third UN statement on the suspected Boko Haram attacks this week. UNICEF, again, issued a strongly worded statement after the abduction of the schoolgirls, making it the fourth UN statement condemning the situation in Nigeria. UN sources believe this is not a very good sign for the country’s image, considering its standing at the UN.

All the four UN statements showed a deep sense of international outrage but also of frustration at the seemingly helplessness of the Nigerian government to effectively control the situation.

FINALLY MANCHESTER UNITED COACH MOYES SACKED-

Moyes is OUT! Glazers finally lose patience with Fergie's failed replacement and now United boss will pay for it by losing his job in the summer

VIA DAILY MAIL

David Moyes will be sacked by Manchester United in the coming weeks and could even go before the end of the day.

United’s owners the Glazer family have finally lost patience with Moyes after a dismal season that has seen the reigning Barclays Premier League champions slump to seventh in the table.

The final straw was Sunday's 2-0 defeat at Everton, their 11th in the Barclays Premier League this season, and a result that left the title holders down 13 points off the Champions League places.

The Glazers and United chief executive Ed Woodward were determined to show patience with Moyes but have recognised inescapable signs recently that performances were getting worse and that players had stopped trying for their manager.

It is understood that the plan now is to sack Moyes at the end of the season but the situation could now come to a head later on Monday or in the coming days. If the former Everton boss is sacked before the season’s end, club legend Ryan Giggs will be asked to take over team affairs.

In terms of appointing a long-term successor, Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp, Holland’s Louis van Gaal and Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti are in the frame.

Despite the expensive signings of Marouane Fellaini last summer and Juan Mata in January, United have failed to keep pace with their rivals and mount any kind of title challenge.

Moyes, who moved from Everton last summer to replace Sir Alex Ferguson, has also overseen failure in the cup competitions.

United were eliminated by Swansea City in the third round of the FA Cup, by Sunderland in the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup and by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Taking all competitions into account, United have won 27 of 51 matches during the Moyes tenure, drawing nine and losing 15.

Pressure mounted further on the embattled manager following a lacklustre showing at Goodison Park, in which United transfer target Leighton Baines and Kevin Mirallas scored the goals.

Moyes bizarrely claimed that his team had played well after they lost 2-0 at Everton despite one of the most lame performances of his reign.

Many United fans saw the performance as a tipping point and the increasing number who were calling for him to go have got their wish.

Afterwards, Moyes — who was taunted by a man dressed as the Grim Reaper in the crowd — claimed he was happy with the display.

He said: ‘We played well in the first half but conceded two on the counter-attack. We didn’t deserve to be 2-0 down. We had good control of the game and possession of the ball. We didn’t defend well for the goals, though. That was right rotten.’

Low point: Moyes sits and considers his options as United lose 1-0 to his former club Everton on December 4

Moyes’s verdict raised eyebrows in the Sky Sports studio.

‘That’s the worst I’ve seen from them over 90 minutes,’ said pundit and Sportsmail columnist Jamie Carragher.

‘Nobody seems to know what’s going on, on the pitch or in the dugout. You can’t see what the plan is. When I played it was total dominance from Manchester United. I’m looking at this team and wondering why they didn’t play like that when I was playing.’

Moyes was even criticised on the club's in-house TV channel when pundit David May said he was 'out of his depth' before being hushed up by the presenter.
